The full name of Sourav Ganguly was Sourav Chandidas Ganguly and he was born on 8th July 1972 at Behala in Kolkata and since a young age he was interested in cricket and he wanted to play for India for years to come and so he took coaching for the same and after working hard for so many years he was able to debut in 1992 via the ODI format. He has a lot of names that people lovingly call him by, some of them include Dada, Prince of Kolkata, Maharaja and God of the Off side as he was such a great player on the off side. His height was 5 ft 11 inches and he used all his height to tonk big sixes against bowlers and especially left arm spinners and he was able to get on top of the ball as well. He was also.a very good right arm medium pace bowler for India.
International Career :
He played for India for 16 years and at the very top of his game from 1992-2008 and he left a great legacy when he retired. His debut test match was in 1996 against England on 20th June and he scored a magnificent century and he immediately told the world that a new star had arrived. After 12 years at the very top he played his last test match on 6th November 2008 vs Australia. His first ODI match was on 11th January 1992 vs the West Indies and he played his last ODI match vs Pakistan on 15th November 2007 thus capping off an incredible career.

The only cricketer to win four consecutive man of the match awards in ODIs.
He holds the record for registering the highest individual score by any batsman in an ICC Champions Trophy final.
He was also the first player to score 3 centuries in the history of ICC Champions Trophy.
One of the only six cricketers to have achieved the unique treble of 10,000 runs, 100 wickets & 100 catches in ODI cricket.
Has the highest individual score by an Indian batsman (183) in the ICC Cricket World Cup.
