Former English 1st class and List A cricketer David Robert Shepherd was known as one of the greatest umpires in cricket history. He was a very popular umpire in international cricket as many enjoyed & respected his simple and strong nature.

31st May 1984 was inscribed in the golden letters in the cricket world as the legendary Caribbean cricketer Sir Vivian Richards played an extraordinary knock of 189 not out off 170 balls, that helped the Caribbean team to clinch victory.
